Bile Salts

Bile salts leave the liver as a molecule conjugated to either glycine or taurine by an amide linkage between the carboxyl group of the bile acid and the amino group on the added compounds. These modified structures are called bile acids, which include glycocholic acid, chenodeoxycholic acid, taurocholic acid, and taurochenodeoxycholic acid.
