PGI₂ inhibits platelet aggregation. Thromboxanes TX A₂ and PG E₂ promote platelet aggregation and blood clotting that might lead to thrombosis. Thus, PG I₂ acts as vasodilator, while TX A₂ is a vasoconstrictor.
