CONCLUSION

The last few decades have witnessed pandemic herbal drug usage against the setting of rising global disease burden outweighing the technological advancements and introduction of newer synthetics and biologicals in the growing pharmaceutical industry. Explosive population growth in the developing world, increasing interest in industrialized nations and ensuing huge international market for herbal products is driving health authorities across nations to regulate herbal drug trade. The need of the hour is more productive assessment and greater availability of safe and effective herbal medicines through operative regulation of long-used traditional remedies. In exploring specific analytical solutions tailored to evaluate the unique/holistic pharmacology of these traditional remedies lies the key to realizing these goals. Work of the WHO combined with the regulatory efforts of its member states supplemented with future research solutions will hopefully resolve herbal drug quality control issues resulting in enhanced health care on a worldwide basis.
