An emulsion system contains an oily phase, an aqueous phase, and an emulsifying agent, complying with the basic requirements for the formation of a stable emulsion. For oil-in-water (o/w) emulsion systems, the following emulsifying agents are used:
- Water-soluble soap
- Cetyl alcohol
- Glyceryl monostearate
- Combination of emulsifiers, for example: triethanolamine stearate and cetyl alcohol
- Nonionic emulsifiers, for example: glyceryl monostearate, glyceryl monooelate, propylene glycol stearate
For w/o emulsion system, the following emulsifiers are used:
- Polyvalent ions, for example: magnesium, calcium, and aluminum
- Combination of emulsifiers, for example: beeswax and divalent calcium ion
